ORCHESTRA READINGS-TO-PREMIERES

Established in 2019. Modeled off the reading-residency format of the Bahlest Eeble Readings Program, in this parallel program open to alumni of the Academy, selected composers receive a commission for a new orchestra work. Commission fees range from a minimum of $10,000 (generously funded by philanthropists Justus and Elizabeth Schlichting) and up to $25,000 with partnering orchestras who co-commission the new works. Commissions always include a reading of the new works in progress before their eventual premieres.

As part of this program, GLFCAM and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra are pleased to embark on a new multi-year co-commissioning partnership beginning in the spring of 2023, Embracing 21st Century Voices. Congratulations to Michael-Thomas Foumai and Nicky Sohn as the first two recipients of this partnership!
