In addition to creating new work, composers are offered a stipend to embark on a long gestation period to study issues of environmental crisis with mentors and peers. Learn more.

Distance Learning: Climate Action

This course on climate action specifically for artists is a weekend-long introduction to a whole-systems framework of planetary boundaries and social foundations. Renowned scholar/communicator of climate science (and music lover) Rob Davies leads this course so that the climate-aware artist can begin to inform themself and stir their creative psyche for stories to convey through their chosen medium. Musicians’ Climate Citizenry Blog

One component of the Composing Earth program is a “Weekly Musing” where Fellows reflect on the climate crisis and its place in their lives. Many of these entries, originally shared only with group members, have been edited as blogs for the public shared here. The Musicians’ Climate Citizenry Blog also includes articles published in magazines and entries specifically written on the subject.
