Noted as a “standout” by the Wall Street Journal, Peruvian-American mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra touches the hearts of audiences with her compelling storytelling and luscious mezzo timbre. Guerra has been featured at the Kennedy Center, the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Bard Music Festival.

During the 2019-2020 season, Guerra has been an Opera Santa Barbara Chrisman Studio Artist as well as continuing her doctoral studies at the University of California Santa Barbara, where she has performed the role of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro. Guerra will perform the role of Stephano in Roméo et Juliette with Opera Santa Barbara and will debut a world premiere by Katherine Balch with the California Symphony this season. Summer 2020 Kelly will sing the role of Indiana Elliott in Virgil Thomson’s Mother of us All with the Chautauqua Opera Company as an apprentice artist. Last summer, Guerra was on a recital tour in NY raising money for RAICES, an organization helping immigrants at the US border. As a recitalist (and as a human on this planet), she hopes to produce several concerts that raise awareness about the importance of social justice and inclusivity by programming contemporary composers, female identifying, or non-binary composers, and composers or poets of color, as well as raising money for those in need.
