Composer Training Program in Partnership with NOI+F and ACO
We are proud to partner with the University of Maryland’s National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F) and the American Composers Orchestra (ACO) for a new training program for emerging composers towards orchestral composition with an especial interest in voices from traditionally underrepresented demographics and aesthetics. In its inaugural year of 2020, our very own Gabriela Lena Frank will take the lead on preparing composers for their experience.
Participating composer trainees will receive individual mentorship as well as benefit from seminars, intensive score study, masterclasses, community engagements, new work readings and performance opportunities with NOI+F faculty and student musicians. Due to the advent of COVID-19, the composer training program has been postponed until early June of 2021 at the University of Maryland’s Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (The Clarice), yet preceded by a year-long apprenticeship conducted remotely.
Congratulations to our first two GLFCAM participants: Andrew Rodriguez (Cycle 12), and Jung Yoon Wie (Cycle 8)!
